Lunar New Year 2023

Lunar New Year Celebration 2023

The Chinese Lunar New Year is known as the Spring Festival or Chūnjié in Mandarin, and is tied to the lunar calendar beginning with the first new moon that occurs between the end of January and beginning of February.  This year, Lunar New Year began on Jan. 22nd and lasts 15 days, until the full moon arrives on Feb. 6th.

Each year in the Lunar Calendar is represented by one of 12 zodiac animals, and this year is the Year of the Rabbit, which is linked to calm and contemplation.

To celebrate at Forest Grove, each of the classes did activities related to Chinese New Year during January.  In addition, each of our Mandarin Classes have been working on a performance to present on Friday, Feb. 10th.
